From black, to red and purple. The sun moves the sky and the river glistens beneath the clouds. Longing for the surface and a new world opens up in front of me.

39 minutes until I land into the lap of my new life. I am here and I am gone. This is it.

Two thousand British pounds, Space Lion, and this colour. A new life is being formed right before me. I feel excited and I feel good. I think this may be the most intimate moment I have ever spent with the sun. I hope that I never forget it.

The red sea. The purple clouds. The steadiness and the departure. How lucky am I. What a beautiful way to begin this descent and my ascent into a new beautiful, big and bright world. The airline lights turn on. Breakfast is ready. The red and the purple have now turned into a bright, saturated blue. A blue that signifies both loss and light. A new, blue beginning. The sun now beams through the plane window. “Good morning, and welcome to your new home” it whispers to me. I feel how special this moment is. Every hour has been felt and enjoyed. Summer and I have reunited. The UV waits patiently for me. London waits for me. I am exactly where I need to be and I am going to be okay.

I’m going to miss this time in transit. The safety of the nothingness. Nothing but time spent by myself. Once I step off of this plane, everything may change. Things may get difficult and ache and my heart may long or break. I know that.

But this moment… this very moment. My god. It feels heavenly. It’s safe and content and warm - the sun stroking my face as my new life is born with the descendant of this plane. The hope, the excitement, the glimmer… I will cherish this forever. This moment is special. This is how life is supposed to be felt. Not the big bangs, but the pauses that slow down time itself. The minutes that embrace you and all of the moments in between - this is it. This is why we jump ship. Not because we’re sure that the next journey will be the right one, but because the jump itself grows us stronger and shows us what the world looks like from above.

Who knows what will await for me when I touch the surface. It may be the best decision I’ve ever made or it might swallow me whole. Either way, I am really proud to be here. I am proud of myself and all of the shades of blue that have surfaced on this journey. We will paint a piece worth looking at… I can promise you that.
